Housing Allocation Scheme :

** The new housing allocation scheme started in January 2016 with a new housing register.
** We asked everyone who applied before 10 August 2015 to update their application before January 2016, so we can advise them if they will qualify under the new scheme.

** In January 2016 we wrote to everyone to let them know if they qualify or not to remain on the new housing register.
** Those who qualified were advised what their new points award is and how many bedrooms they can bid for.

Camden connection :
** You will need to show that you have lived in Camden for five out of the last seven years to remain on or join the housing register.
** We will ask you for proof of your current and previous addresses when you make your application.

Minimum level of housing need :
** If you are eligible for 30 points or less, based on your assessed housing need, you will not be able to remain on or join the housing register.
** You can reapply if your circumstances change.

How points are awarded :
** Points for all qualifying applicants will change.
** Waiting time and long-term residence points will be recalculated and there will be changes in the points awarded for other circumstances.
** This will mean that if you qualify your total points could go up or down.

Bedroom assessment :
** We are making changes to how we calculate how many bedrooms qualifying households need .
** This will also affect how we measure overcrowding.
** All children under 5 will be counted and people of the same sex will be expected to share a bedroom regardless of their age.

Update your application for social housing :
** If you have qualified for Camden’s Housing Register, it is your responsibility to keep your application up to date.
** You must tell us about any changes in your circumstances.
** We will then check the information you provide and you may not be able to bid for properties until this is completed.

In order to update your application you will need :
** Your housing application number – this is also the User ID number you bid on home connections with
** Your security number
** Your memorable word
** Your date of birth, or that of someone else listed on your application

Please note :
** this may take up to 30 minutes to complete, depending on your circumstances.

Who cannot qualify for the register :
You will not be eligible to qualify for the register if you are not entitled access to public funds due to your immigration status.

This includes households who, by law :
** are subject to immigration control,
** only have a right to reside in the UK because they (or a member of their household) are a jobseeker,
** are not habitually resident in the UK,
** have a right to reside in the UK of less than three months.

Who you can include on your application :
** You can only include people who normally live with you as a member of your household on your application.
** You and any members of your household can only be on one housing application.

You can include the following people on your application if they normally live with you or could reasonably be expected to do so:
** your partner or spouse,
** children dependent4 on you and/or your partner who live with you more than half of the time (51% or more of the time),
** siblings
