Apply For A New Australian Passport :
** You can apply for an Australian passport at more than 1,700 Post Offices around Australia.

** We’ll help ensure your passport application and photos meet Australian Government requirements.
** Australian passports are only issued to Australian citizens.
** They’re valid for 10 years for adults and 5 years for children.
Please note :
** Some Post Offices require appointments for passport interviews and some accept walk-ins.
** Use our search tool below to find a location convenient to you and then fill in your contact details if an appointment is necessary.
Step 1: Complete your application
You can complete your passport application in 2 ways :
Option 1 :
** Pick up a new passport application form for an adult or child passport from a participating Post Office that performs passport interviews.
Option 2 :
** Complete a form online through the Australian Passport Office website (External link) and then bring a printed copy to your interview (see Step 3).
** The Australian Passport Office website (External link) and the passport application form provide information on how to complete the form and which documentation is required in order to process your application.
Step 2: Take your photo
** You need to provide 2 identical photographs with your application.
** One photo must be endorsed and signed by a guarantor (someone who can verify who you are).
** Please check the Australian Passport Office (External link) for guarantor guidelines.
** Post Offices that offer Instant ID Photos can take quality passport compliant photographs for you.

** Please organise this before your interview.
Step 3: Find a participating Post Office
** Some locations require you to make an interview appointment and some accept walk-ins.
** Select your nearest Post Office using our locations and hours tool and make an appointment if required.
Step 4: Attend your interview and pay the application fee
** At your interview, we’ll check your documentation is correct and confirm your identity before sending your application to the Australian Passport Office.
** Once your application has been accepted, you’ll need to pay your passport application fee .
** We accept payments by cash, MasterCard or Visa, or EFTPOS.
** Passport fees are set by the Australian Passport Office and are subject to change.
What to bring to your interview :
** Application fee
** Two identical colour ID photos less than six months old, with one signed by the guarantor
** Your completed application form
** Document that proves citizenship
** Original ID documents
** Original proof of name change if required
