Issuance of Road Permit :

Service Description :
The Directorate General of Operations is responsible of issuing security permit for Obtain Tourist Boats Anchoring.

Eligibility or Criteria :
In case the application is presented by someone other than the sponsor, the representative must be Omani and holding a written authorisation issued from the sponsor and attested by the Directorate General of Passport & Residence.

Required Documents :
** Filling the road permit application format in addition to filling the original designated permit
** Enclosing two photographs size (4X6) cm

** Enclosing copy of the sponsor’s identity card in case of personal sponsorship
** Copy of the foreigner’s passport and a copy of his residence card in the Sultanate

** Copy of the specimen signature of the authorised signatories issued by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry

** Copy of valid certificate of membership of Oman’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry, accompanied by a copy of the valid commercial registration
** A letter from the sponsor requesting the permit

Note : The resident foreigners in high professions are exempted from the road permits in coordination with the concerned authorities at the United Arab Emirates.

Fees :
** One trip / Fees (8) Omani Riyals.
** Three months / Fees (15) Omani Riyals.
** Six months / Fees (20) Omani Riyals.

** One year / Fees (30) Omani Riyals.
** Collective road permits granted to companies that are implementing contracts beyond the border points according to the defined permit validity

Procedures in cases of misplacement of Omani passports (within the Sultanate) :
Service Description :
** The Directorate General of Passport & Residence is responsible of Procedures in cases of misplacement of Omani passports (within the Sultanate). The search for the passport shall pursue for a period not inferior to through months from the date of reporting.

Eligibility or Criteria :
** The concerned person must present himself to the competent authority

Required Documents :
** Fill the form related to the report of the Omani passport’s misplacement
** Enclose three photographs with blue background size (4X6)
** Present a copy of the identity card and the misplaced passport in case found

Procedures in cases of misplacement of Omani passports (abroad) :
Service Description :
** The Directorate General of Passport & Residence is responsible of procedures in cases of misplacement of Omani passports (abroad).

Eligibility or Criteria :
** The applicant should approach the nearest Omani diplomatic mission at the place where the passport has been misplaced.
** When the applicant reaches the Sultanate, all the procedures for the misplacement of the passports within the Sultanate are to be followed.

Procedures when an Omani passport is found :
Service Description :
** The Directorate General of Passport & Residence is responsible of procedures when an Omani passport is found.

Required Documents :
** Submit a letter declaring the concerned person finding of the passport.

Procedures :
** The concerned person should submit the Required Document above to Directorate General’s concerned section or the passport administration of the geographical region.
** The reported misplaced passport shall be cancelled, and a new passport shall be issued as a substitute after the end of the defined period

About Us :
The concept of a modern police force is relatively new to Oman. Hardly 30 years, ago, no internal security force existed in the country : Security was the responsibility If of the local walis who carried it out with the help of local “Askars”.

The police presence was limited to the township of Muscat and Muttrah. All this changed in 1970 when His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said came to power. Very soon, the country saw the establishment of a highly competent and trained police force, now regarded as one of the best in the region.

In 1974, His Majesty conferred the title Royal Oman Police (ROP) on the newly formed force. In November that year, ROP received its colours from His Majesty the Sultan. The next year, the sprawling ROP headquarters was inaugurated in Qurum.
