Pakistan Undergraduate Scholarships :

Under Pakistan Technical Assistance Programme- PTAP
Applications are invited from eligible Sri Lankan students for the award of undergraduate scholarships offered by the Government of Pakistan under the above scholarship programme for the academic year 2014/15

Candidates who have been granted a foreign scholarship would not be eligible to apply for admission to any local university.

(1).General Eligibility Requirements :-
(a) Should be a citizen of Sri Lanka.
(b) Should have passed the G.C.E (A/L) examination not before 2013 conducted by the Department of Examinations, Sri Lanka with subjects relevant to the field applicant intends to apply.
(c) Should possess a high proficiency in English.
(d) Should be in good health and ready to live in Pakistan during the period of study.
(e) Should not be employed under the Government or statutory body.
(f) Applicant should not be a student already registered or following an undergraduate course at any university or a full time course of study in a state sector Higher Educational Institution.

(2).Fields of Study :-
** Medicine
** Dentistry (BDS)
** B.Sc. Engineering
** D. Pharmacy

Minimum Educational Qualifications :-
Medicine/ Dentistry – G.C.E (A/L) [Chemistry, Biology & Physics/ Mathematics] with at least 60% marks after conversion from IBCC)
MBBS – (05 seats) / BDS – (02 seats)
B.Sc. Engineering – G.C.E (A/L) [Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics] with at least 60% marks for admission (04 seats)
D. Pharmacy – G.C.E (A/L) [Physics, Chemistry & Biology] with at least 60% marks for admission (02 seats)

Notes :
(i) Applicants who seek admission in MBBS/BDS are required to pass the entry test of concerned institutions or minimum SAT-II Score of 550 in each subject (i.e., Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Mathematics) in lieu of entry test.
(ii) TOEFL or IELTS score of 500 or 5.5 shall be required from the students who have obtained their required qualifications from those institutions where the medium of instruction for these qualifications is not English. An alternate to TOFEL & IELTS is a certification by NUML, Islamabad after a one year English language course.

Terms of Award :
The students admitted under PTAP will be required to pay the prescribed fee applicable under the programme to the institution concerned. Expenses on travelling, boarding, lodging etc., are also to be borne by students themselves.

Special Notes :

i. Conditions laid down in this notification may vary as per the criteria imposed by the awarding country without prior notice.
ii. If any student declines the offer after the selection through the interview, he/she will not be considered for any of the Scholarships during the year.
iii. Candidates after the receipt of placements cannot decline the scholarship except that the Higher Education Institute concerned is not recognized by the University Grants Commission or the Sri Lanka Medical Council.
iv. An applicant will not be allowed after admission to migrate from one institution to another and exemption from tuition fee and other dues which is exclusively related to concerned institution.
v. Extension of the period of the scholarship will not be recommended by this ministry.

Applications :-
i. Every Application should conform to the specimen form provided.
ii. The words “Pakistan Undergraduate Scholarships (PTAP) 2014/15 ” should be hand or type -written on top left corner of the envelope containing the application.
iii. Each applicant should submit only one application for award and should state whether he /she has been nominated for a similar award in the past.
iv. Any statement in the application, which is found to be incorrect before selection, will render the applicant liable to disqualification. If such inaccuracy is found after selection it will lead to the withdrawal of the award.
v. A non-refundable payment should be made by affixing a stamp to the value of Rs.50/- in the cage provided for this purpose in the application and cancelled by the candidate’s signature.
vi. Any application, which is not sent through the proper channel or incomplete in any respect or received late will be rejected.

Closing Date :
Applications will be accepted only up to 31.07.2014

Nominations & Final Selections :
i. Nominations will be made through an interview after short listing of applications on the basis of the Z Score obtained at the G.C.E A/L Examination. These nominations will be forwarded to the relevant selection authority.
ii. The final selections will be made by the Government of Pakistan as the awarding authority accordingly. Therefore, no candidate should treat his/her nomination for a scholarship as an acceptance for an award. Acceptance is a matter entirely within the discretion of the awarding agency.
