On The Day Of The Interview, Firearm Holders Will Be Required To Submit The Following Documents :
** Two (2) Application Forms (FLA001A). Forms are to be completed in the applicant’s own handwriting. Where available, a valid secure email address should accompany each application.

** Three (3) passport-size photographs certified by a Justice of the Peace. The Seal should indicate the Justice of the Peace’s registration number.

** Recommendations from any two (2) of the following categories of persons : Minister of Religion, Justice of the Peace, School Principal, Attorney-at-law, Medical Doctor or Resident Magistrate.

** Proof of age (passport or birth certificate) and Fingerprint Receipt

** As part of the interviewing process, each individual will be fingerprinted and their firearm(s) balistically tested. Owners of shotguns, however, will not have ballistic tests conducted on their firearm(s).

What are the documents needed for recertification?
** Completed application form
** 2 passport size photos (1 certified by a Justice of the Peace -JP)

** 2 recommendations – may be from a Justice of the Peace, Lawyer, Medical Doctor, Principal, Gazetted Rank Police Officer (not below the rank of Deputy Superintendent), Member of the J.D.F. (Major and above)

** Proof of age (Passport or Birth Certificate. Original & Photocopy)
** Original & Photocopy of finger print receipt
** Licence Booklet(s) or card(s)
** Firearm(s) – (shot guns are not required for ballistic testing)

What is the cost for a users licence?
$12,000.00 currently

How do you apply for a provisional/minor permit?
Minor Application Form (11 years – 16 years) or FLA Application Form (17 years and over) where applicable
** 1 passport size photo
** Tax Registration Number (TRN)
** Licence fee receipt

** Copy of License and current licence fee certificate belonging to primary holder
** Authorization letter from parent/legal guardian (where applicable) & primary holder of licence

** Letter from an approved FLA trainer stating that applicant is competent in the safe use and handling of the shotgun for the same gauge being applied for (letter of competence must accompany the application)

About Us :
** The Firearm Licensing Authority (FLA) was established in 2005 by an Act of Parliament as a statutory organization within the Ministry of National Security.

** The Authority will streamline and standardize the granting, renewal and revocation of firearm licences and all the attendant processes thereof. This will serve to modernize and regulate the licensing of firearms in Jamaica in keeping with worldwide standards.

The Firearm Licensing Authority will also act as a centralized administrative body and database repository.

** The new systems implemented by the FLA will improve the services offered to firearm holders and the public. Some important functions will be :
** To implement a transparent and accountable system for the issue of Firearm Licenses.

** To ensure proper and standardized Training Certification in the Safe Use and Care of firearms.
** To develop and maintain a modern computerized Ballistic Identification Database

** Finally the Police Force and its specialized divisions will still have vital and important investigative, monitoring and enforcement roles.
