The Hong Kong Jockey Club Scholarship Scheme :
The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust invites applications from outstanding local full-time undergraduate students of The Chinese University of Hong Kong to apply for The Hong Kong Jockey Club Scholarship Scheme 2013/14.
Applicant must be full-time first-year undergraduate students studying the first degree programme in the academic year.
The Scholarships :
** Three scholarships to cover tuition fee, academic expenses and living costs will be offered to local full-time students to study their first undergraduate degree programmes at CUHK.
** The maximum tenure of each Scholarship is up to four years based on the admission qualification of the students. The Scholarship will be renewed annually provided that the scholarship recipients have attained a Year GPA of 3.5 or above in the previous academic year and demonstrate active participation in extra-curricular activities and/or community services.
Eligibility :
Applicants must :
** be holders of a Hong Kong Permanent Identity Card, or have the Right of Abode / Right to Land in Hong Kong, or be holders of a Dependant Visa for entry to Hong Kong;
** have attained a Year GPA of 3.5 or above for the academic year 2013/14. Students who have attained a Year GPA of at least 3.3 but with special talents or outstanding achievements may also be considered. (Year GPA includes Term 1 and Term 2 GPAs only. GPA for summer session is excluded.)
** be proficient in the Chinese (including Putonghua) and English languages;
** possess leadership qualities as demonstrated in their involvement in extra-curricular activities and/or community services; and
** be with other personal qualities and potentials and/or special talents or outstanding achievements.
Application Procedures :
1. Information on the Scholarship and its application form can be downloaded from the website of the Office of Admissions and Financial Aid at http://www.cuhk.edu.hk/adm/ (Scholarships & Financial Aid > Applications Invited).
2. Completed application form together with all requisite documents should be submitted to your Faculty Office on or before their specific deadline. Please check with your Faculty for the submission deadline and location. Please refer to the Notes for Applicants attached to the application form which is provided by the Office of Admissions and Financial Aid for the requisite documents to be submitted by the applicants.
3. Shortlisted candidates are required to attend a selection interview held in and by the University in late September / early October 2014. The University will then nominate 5-6 candidates for further selection by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust. Shortlisted candidates are requested to attend the selection interviews in person in Hong Kong. No phone interview / interview by Skype will be arranged. The cost of travel to the interviews will not be reimbursed to the candidates.

Important Notes to Scholarship Recipients :
1. All scholarship recipients are NOT allowed to concurrently hold other scholarships / awards, except those designated for participation in outgoing exchange programme or awarded on the basis of student’s specific contribution or achievement.
2. All scholarship recipients MUST attend both Scholars Orientation Programme and Scholarship Presentation Ceremony, which will be held tentatively in the first quarter of 2015.
3. All scholarship recipients are expected to join the Jockey Club Scholars Alumni Association and to participate in activities and community services organized by the Alumni Association. They are also required to attend functions organized by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust for them.
4. Local scholarship recipients shall undertake to work in Hong Kong for at least three years upon completion of their first degree or further studies, whichever is applicable, failing which the Trust reserves the right to demand a refund, in full or in part, of the Scholarship.
