Online payment methods :
Pay your taxes the same way you pay your phone or hydro bill :
** Sign in to your financial institution’s online banking service.
** Under add a payee, look for CRA (revenue)-(2013)-tax owing, CRA (revenue)-past tax owed, CRA (revenue)-tax instalment or a similar payee.
** Be sure to enter your account number (social insurance number or business number) carefully to avoid a lost or misapplied payment.
Other information about paying your taxes using online banking :
** Scotiabank is the only financial institution that accepts online payments for non-resident accounts.
** Most financial institutions let you set up a payment to be sent to the CRA on a pre-set date for single or multiple payments in the future.
** For business tax account payments, you may only be able to make a payment from a business bank account.
** For help paying your taxes through online banking, please contact your financial institution
Debit Card Interac® Online :
Use the CRA’s My Payment service to pay with your debit card through Interac® Online.
Credit Card :
** The CRA does not offer the option of paying taxes using a credit card. However, you may be able to use a third-party service provider that offers additional payment methods, including credit cards. The only provider that offers the credit card method at this time is listed below for your convenience. Third-party providers charge a fee for their service.
** Avoid late fees! Even if you pay today, the CRA may not receive your payment today. The transfer will typically take place within two to three days. However, you may encounter additional delays. Please contact the third-party service provider for more information. The CRA may charge you penalties or interest or both if your payment is late.
** You are responsible for making sure the CRA receives your payment by the payment due date. If you are using a third-party service provider, you must clearly understand the terms and conditions of the services you are using. Also, links to other websites, or references on this website to products, services, or publications other than those of the CRA, are provided only for the convenience of CRA website users. The CRA does not endorse these products, services, or publications.
Pre-authorized debit :
** Set it up and forget it : a pre-authorized debit agreement lets you arrange a pre-set payment on a pre-set date.
** Pre-authorized debit lets you set up a payment to be made from your bank account to the CRA on a pre-set date. You can pay an overdue amount or make instalment payments. You can set up a pre-authorized debit agreement at your convenience using the CRA’s My Account service. For more information, go to Pre-authorized debit or call 1-800-959-8281. You cannot use this option to make a business payment.
The third-party service provider :
** You may be able to make your payment through a third-party service provider. The third-party service provider will send your business or individual payment and remittance details online to the CRA for you.
** Avoid late fees! Even if you pay today, the CRA may not receive your payment today. We receive your payment on the date the service provider sends the funds to us—not the date you make your payment. The CRA may charge you penalties or interest or both if your payment is late. Contact your service provider to find out if you will experience processing delays.
** You are responsible for making sure the CRA receives your payment by the payment due date. If you are using a third-party service provider, you must clearly understand the terms and conditions of the services you are using.

** We accept post-dated cheques.
** If you make a payment with a cheque that your financial institution does not honour, including a cheque you put a “stop payment” on, we will charge you a fee.
