Get a Global Work Permit :

A Global Work Permit allows a person who is already employed by a global company in another jurisdiction to transfer to the Bermuda office without the requirement to advertise the position.

The company must demonstrate that the Global Work Permit holder is not being transferred to fill a pre-existing position in Bermuda.

The term of a Global Work Permit is one, two, three, four or five years. A Global Work Permit is not applicable to positions listed in the closed or restricted categories. If the Global Work Permit holder falls within a job category where a statutory council must be consulted, that must be done as well.

If the employer wishes for the holder of a Global Work Permit to stay beyond the expiry of their Global Work Permit, the employer must apply for a Standard Work Permit.

Applications will be automatically approved in respect of individuals who have been employed for greater than one year and who earn a gross salary greater than $125,000 per year.

Applications in respect of individuals employed for less than one year and/or those earning less than $125,000 will be considered on a case by case basis and approval will depend substantially on demonstrating that the addition of the Global Work Permit holder will add value to Bermuda.

Eligibility :
Only global employers are eligible to apply for Global Work Permits. A global employer is defined as any company in Bermuda that employs people in jurisdictions outside of Bermuda. Franchise businesses that operate in Bermuda are not global employers for the purpose of this policy.

Requirements :
Employers are required to obtain and verify the following documents prior to the submission of the work permit, and to include the following documents with the application :
** A completed Global Work Permit Application Form
** Police certificate
** Medical clearance
** Employment and character references

** Required fees (see below)
** Copy of job advertisement
** Passport-sized photos
** Proof of citizenship (passport)
** Proof of multi-entry Visa/Permanent Resident Card issued by US/Canada/UK

** Marriage certificate (if applicable)
** Birth certificate
** Statement of employment
** Resume

** Payment of government taxes and employee benefits
** Additional information/supplementary sheet that includes company information and employer details, along with details on efforts made to hire local resources

New companies must also provide a certificate of incorporation and company profile.

Two-year global work permit $3,000.00
Three-year global work permit $4,092.00
Four-year global work permit $5,184.00
Five-year global work permit $6,441.00
