Apply for Canada eTA

eTA is a required travel authorization for travelers visiting Canada for tourism, business or transit purposes.

Eligibility

** Valid for tourism, business or medical stays of up to six months. The authorization is linked electronically to your passport and is valid for five years or until your passport expires, whichever comes first.

** TOURIST | TRANSIT | BUSINESS Good for tourism, vacation holidays, friend or family visits, medical care, participation in social events.

** Consult with business associates, attend a scientific, educational, professional, or business convention or conference, attend short-term training or negotiate a contract.

Only individuals holding a passport from one of the following countries are eligible for the eTA :
Andorra, Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Australia, Austria, Bahamas, Barbados, Belgium, Bermuda, British citizen, British overseas citizen who is re-admissible to the United Kingdom, British Virgin Islands, Brunei Darussalam, Cayman Islands, Chile, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Falkland Islands, Finland, France, Federal Republic of Germany, Gibraltar, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Republic of Korea, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, Montserrat, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Papua New Guinea, Pitcairn Island, Poland, Portugal, Saint Helena, Samoa, San Marino, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Solomon Islands, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turks and Caicos Islands

1. What type of information do I need to complete an online eTA application?
In order to complete an online eTA application you need to provide biographic information, such as your name, date and place of birth, gender, marital status, address, nationality and passport number.

You will also need to answer a few simple background questions to determine if you can come to Canada. For example, you will be asked about your current job and how much money you have available for your visit to Canada, and if you have any medical issues.

2. Do age restrictions apply?
No age restriction apply. Eligible passport holders of all ages must apply for an eTA.

3. Can I include my children in the same online eTA application?
No. Each person must submit a separate eTA application. If your child or children appear on your passport, a separate eTA application must be submitted for each child.

4. How long will my eTA take to process?
Visas are typically processed and approved with confirmations issued within 24 hours. Depending on the time your passport information and application are submitted, it can take up to 72 hours.

5. What shall I do in case my application for an eTA is not approved right away?
While most eTAs will be issued in less than 24 hours, some may take longer to process. In a small number of cases, more information may be needed before the application is approved. We will contact you via email and advise you of the next steps.

This may include a request for :
** Additional information or documents, or
** An in-person interview at the nearest Canadian visa office.

6. What can I do if I make a mistake in my application?
It is important that you enter and check very carefully your personal details. If you find out that you have made a mistake, please contact us at info [AT] visaetacanada.org as soon as possible.

Note : If your eTA details do not match your passport details you might experience delays when boarding your aircraft or be refused the entry into Canada.

7. What happens when applications are not approved?
If your application is not approved you should contact your nearest Canadian visa office.

8. I did not receive any email confirmation
Check your “Spam”, “Bulk Mail” or “Junk email” folder . If you find our email there, select the confirmation message and click “This is Not Spam”. This will help your future messages (for example eTA documents) to get through.
