NT Pensioner & Carer Concession Scheme
As a member you can receive concessions on a range of cost of living expenses including :
** electricity – on-grid, off-grid, pre-paid tokens and e-token meters

** water rates
** sewerage rates
** property rates
** garbage collection charges
** motor vehicle registration
** driver licences
** spectacles
** interstate and overseas travel.
Other concessions are also available including stamp duty for first home buyers and the Seniors Card, which is issued free and provides access to savings on a range of goods and services from participating businesses.
Eligibility
You are eligible for concessions if you are a permanent resident of the NT and receive an eligible Department of Human Services or Centrelink benefit or hold an eligible Department of Veterans’ Affairs concession card.
You may be eligible for a concession if you hold one of the following cards and are a permanent resident of the Northern Territory (NT).
Australian Government Department of Human Services (Centrelink) :
** Pensioner Concession Card – age pension, carer’s payment, disability support pension, parenting payment single
Australian Government Department of Veterans’ Affairs :
** Pensioner Concession Card
** Health Card – totally and permanently incapacitated – gold
** Health Card – war widow or war widower pension – gold
** Health Card – pharmaceuticals only – orange
** Commonwealth Seniors Health Card.
How to Access Concessions
Most concessions will be paid to you automatically once you are given your membership card. You will need to give your membership details to your utility retailer and local council. Your property rates, garbage charges, electricity, water and sewerage concessions are generally automatically deducted from your bill each quarter.
How to Apply
This page has information on how to apply to join the Northern Territory (NT) Pensioner and Carer Concession Scheme. Fill in the membership form and submit to the NT Pensioner and Carer Concession Unit. If you are applying for off-grid or on-supplied electricity concessions fill in the off-grid and on-supplied electricity concession form.
Your details :
The name and address you provide should match the name and address you provided to utilities and agencies such as your local council, Jacana Energy, Power and Water, and the Motor Vehicle Registry.
You need to be an Australian citizen or a permanent resident and live permanently in the NT to become a member of the scheme. You must provide copies of at least two documents from the list below that show you meet these criteria.
Australian Citizenship/Permanent Residency
Provide a copy of one of the following :
** passport – current or expired within last two years, but not cancelled
** Australian birth certificate or birth certificate extract
** permanent residency visa
** citizenship certificate.
Northern Territory Residency
Provide a copy of one of the following that shows your address :
** NT driver licence
** local government or council rate notices
** telephone bill
** Centrelink or Department of Veterans’ Affairs correspondence
** bank statement
** credit card statement
** water, electricity or gas bill
** rent receipt from a real estate agent
** lease or rental agreement.
