Citizen Online Report Entry :

** The Citizen Online Report Entry (CORE) system allows you to provide NON-EMERGENCY information to the Toronto Police Service immediately, without having to wait for a police officer to respond to your incident.

Lost Property reports will only be accepted by phone and are submitted by calling 416-808-2222.

** CORE reports can be submitted by you or someone who is authorized to submit it on your behalf.
** If the incident involves a business, then the report must be filed by the business owner or an authorized representative.
** The Toronto Police Service DOES NOT accept reports for incidents that occurred outside the City of Toronto.
** If the incident occurred outside the City of Toronto, please contact the police service responsible for the area in which the incident occured.
** Please note there will be a time delay in responding to your online submission.

Criteria :
LOST : An item was accidentally misplaced or left behind somewhere
STOLEN : Someone removed the item from your lawful possession with the intent to steal

In order to submit a report via CORE, you must :
** provide a valid email address AND a phone number,
** provide an incident date,
** provide the location of the incident,
** provide serial numbers that are visible on any property that is being reported as STOLEN,
** create a separate property entry for each piece of property that is being reported as STOLEN

Note :
The value of the STOLEN item or DAMAGE to your property must be less than $5,000.00. If it is OVER $5,000 in value, please call 416-808-2222.
The accuracy of the information you provide greatly assists the Toronto Police Service in processing your report. Please ensure your report is as COMPLETE AND CONCISE as possible, so as to ensure an officer won’t have to contact you in order to clarify the information and won’t delay the processing of your submission.

Lost Property :

** “Lost Property” reports are not actively investigated by the Toronto Police Service and are kept for records purposes only.
** If you LOST property in a taxi cab, on the TTC or at a specific location, please contact the appropriate organization and check their “Lost and Found”.
** If you have LOST your CELLPHONE, please contact your service provider. The Toronto Police Service does NOT take reports for LOST cellphones.
** If you have LOST your CANADIAN PASSPORT or SOCIAL INSURANCE CARD, contact Service Canada
** If you LOST a PASSPORT from ANOTHER COUNTRY, please call 416-808-2222.
** If you have LOST your DRIVER’S LICENSE, HEALTH CARD or other ONTARIO IDENTIFICATION, contact Service Ontario.
** If you have LOST your LICENCE PLATE(S) or HANDICAP PERMITS, please call 416-808-2222.

The Toronto Police Service will ONLY accept reports for LOST items that :
** have an externally visible SERIAL NUMBER AND are worth MORE THAN $500,
** are dangerous to the public (IE : Pharmaceutical Samples),
** could be used to commit criminal offences (IE : Firearms) or,
** it is determined that there is a public interest in recording the details of the LOST item.

You CANNOT use CORE to submit reports regarding the following incidents :
** Lost Items (including Cellphones),
** Stolen Firearms,
** Stolen Prescription Drugs,
** Vehicle Collisions Or Suspected Vehicle Collisions,
** Incidents Related To Any Form Of Physical Violence Including Domestic Violence And/or Personal Relationships.

Note :
If you were able to confirm the statements above regarding your incident, you are ready to file your report online. Please ensure you have disabled your computer’s pop-up blocking software before you proceed.

The Process :
Upon completing and submitting your CORE report, you will :
** See the words : “Your online police report has been submitted” showing that your police report is complete.”
** Be given a TEMPORARY report number. (EG : T14000001)
** Once your report has been processed and approved by the Toronto Police, you will be notified via email regarding the status of your report and given your final General Occurrence (GO) number. (EG : 2014-9000001)

Please Note :
** All information submitted using the CORE system will be reviewed by members of the Toronto Police PRIME Unit,
** Upon review, if further investigation of your case is needed, you may be contacted via email or telephone.
