NHF GOJ Health Card
Residents of Jamaica who seek health care in the public health sector have been enjoying all health services and medication on the Vital Essential and Necessary (VEN) list with no out of pocket cost.

This list of drugs is approved by the Ministry of Health for use in the public sector hospitals and health centres. Now the Government of Jamaica, (GOJ), is further improving the delivery of health care services with the introduction of the : GOJ Health Card. Your GOJ Health Card will be your medical entitlement card. ” YOUR HEALTH, YOUR CARD ”
How To Apply
All residents of Jamaica are eligible for a GOJ Health Card – you just have to register to get one.
Here are the simple steps :
** Get a Taxpayer Registration Number (TRN), if you do not already have one.
** Take your TRN with you to all Public Hospitals or Health Centres that are registering Jamaican Residents for the GOJ Health Card.
** Ensure your address is correct on the application form. Your GOJ Health Card will be mailed to your mailing address.

** Easier access at registration
** Enhanced patient management for better health outcomes
** The ability to easily fill prescriptions at any public health pharmacy and DrugServ across the island
** To ensure PATH beneficiaries have access to health services
What If I Have A National Health Fund (NHF) Card :
** Person who already have a NHF card will not be required to sign up for the GOJ Health Card. However person with only the JADEP Card NEED to apply fro the GOJ Health Card.
** The GOJ Health Card can only be used in Public Facilities and cannot be used in place of the NHF Card at private pharmacies.
** The GOJ Health Card will not replace the NHF Card
How Will The GOJ Health Card Help :
If you have a GOJ Health Card and a prescription that was given to you at a public hospital of health centre, you will be able to fill your prescription at no cost for items which are on the VEN List.
How Do I Use The GOJ Health Card :
** Simple, just present your GOJ Health Card upon registration or at the point of service in the public sector health facility.
** If your prescription was issued at the public hospital or health clinic and the item(s) prescribed is / are on the Vital Essential and Necessary (Ven) List, you will get the items at no cost. The GOJ Health Card will operate on the Coordination of Benefits platform.
Do I Need The GOJ Health Card To Access Medication From The Public Pharmacies :
** Just as you do now, you will be able to get your prescription filled at no out of pocket cost at any public pharmacy if the items prescribed are in the VEN List. Everyone is being encouraged to get the GOJ Health Card now and help with the smooth transition of this new and improved system.
** There will be a time when the GOJ Health Card will become the primary card used for accessing health services in the public sector
Why Do I Need A TRN :
The GOJ Health Card is based on a computerised programme and for this system to work best, each cardholder must be identified with a unique number. The TRN is widely used in Jamaica for computerised systems.
Is It Easy To Get A TRN :
1.Take an identification to the TRN Office in your area
a.Passport
b.National Identification with birth certificate
2.Fill out the TRN application form and submit with your identification. You will receive a temporary TRN at the
3.time of application. Take this number with you to the hospital or health centre where you will register.
4.Remember your driver’s license number is your TRN.
Note :
If your’e applying for a TRN for a child under 18 years of age, you must take the child’s birth certificate and a certified photograph. The parent must take his/her TRN and an identification.
