Apply For Driving Licence :
The objective of this system is to monitor and control the issuance of driving licences with a view to addressing the problem of fake licences which are the cause for many road accidents.

This is because the system allows everybody to obtain any licence and drive any car one prefers. However under the current system holders of driving licence of certain class will be obliged to drive only such a class upon which he was tested for and not otherwise. At the initial stage the applicant will have to undergo biometric measures and finger prints.
Applying driving license for the first time :
** Must have attended any recognized driving college and awarded a certificate
** Must have more than 18 years of age for motor vehicles and 16 years of age onwards for motorcycles
** Must have a learner/provisional driving license
** Must undergo test fee-GRR
** Must have an eye test certificate
** Must have applied to Traffic police for testing
** Must go to traffic police with a car for testing
Applicant having being tested may be allowed to drive motorcycles and saloon cars.
Conversion driving licence (Class A B D E F and G) :
** The applicant will go to Police Traffic office with his old driving license
** Must have a certificate of competence
** The applicant must have more than 18 years of age for motor vehicle and 16 years of age for motor cycles
Class “C”Conversion :
** The applicant will go to Police Traffic office with his old driving license
** Must have a certificate of competence
** The applicant must have more than 18 years for motor vehicle and 16 years for motor cycles
** PCV certificate from NIT or VETA
** Applicant should specify the kind of motor vehicle he intends to drive
** Applicant will be given a class of license based on his success.
Driving licenses rates are :
** License fees-Tshs 40,000/= renewable every 3 years
** Driving test fees-Tshs. 3,000/=
** Provisional license fees-Tshs. 10,000/= renewable every 3 months
