NACTE Award Evaluation System Application

Award evaluation/recognition is done as per Section 5 of the Act No. 9 of 1997 which requires NACTE to establish and make awards in technical education and training which are consistent in standard and comparable to related awards in Tanzania and internationally.

The Council has defined and established a range of National Technical Awards (NTA) conferred on graduates of technical education and training upon successful completion of their respective studies in various technical fields. NTAs are competence/outcomes based defined according to specific levels of achievement and designed to testify that the holder of the award possesses the requisite knowledge necessary to apply competently the knowledge and skills described in the relevant occupational sector.

Any award issued by non University institution existing in Tanzania or outside Tanzania and which is not categorized as NTA must be evaluated and its equivalent/recognition level determined by the Council. The on-line application form for award evaluation/recognition is designed to make you send the application to NACTE without necessarily visiting our offices. You will be able to open the form only after you have read and understood these instructions. Please read the instructions carefully before starting the application.

Required Documents  :
Documents to be uploaded :
** Applicants MUST upload the following documents in PDF format not exceeding 10MB;
** Scanned original documents of all academic records; (diplomas, certificates, mark sheets,transcripts, etc of the award(s) required to be evaluated/recognized
** Scanned original documents of all academic records; (diplomas, certificates, mark sheets,transcripts, etc of all prior education qualifications with exception of elementary/primary school;
** Accurate word-to-word translations of each submitted document (if applicable); and

Other Documents to be furnished (can be mailed if they exceed size limitation) :
** Detailed course descriptions/curriculum of the programme which led to the award to be evaluated;
** Work permit if you are non citizen and applying from within Tanzania;

Application Fee

NACTE charges an application fee depending on the speed of processing the application; the application fee applies to each award to be evaluated. If your entry qualification to the award to be evaluated is also a non NTA/foreign award it will also be evaluated hence charged separately. The application fee categories as follows :- is non-refundable and will not be waived. All applicants are subject to submit this fee regardless of nationality or financial circumstances. Normal Track (decision to be communicated within 90 days) :
** Certificate and Diploma qualifications Tshs. 20,000/=
** Advanced/Higher Diploma and above Tshs. 30,000/=

Medium Track (decision to be communicated within 7 working days) :
** Certificate and Diploma qualifications Tshs. 40,000/=
** Advanced/Higher Diploma and above Tshs. 60,000/=

Fast Track (decision to be communicated within 3 working days) :
** Certificate and Diploma qualifications Tshs. 60,000/=
** Advanced/Higher Diploma and above Tshs. 100,000/=

Appeals :
Any appeal over the evaluation of the award will be accommodated if made in writing. Under any circumstance where the applicant is not satisfied with the decision of the Council over the evaluation, may lodge an appeal to the Council within 90 days from the date of the decision. The Council shall, after receiving the appeal from the applicant, appoint a person or persons (different from previous Evaluator) who have expertise in the discipline to re evaluate the award. In order to avoid biasness. The decision of the Council after the re-evaluation shall be final and conclusive. Appeals will be charged Tshs. 10,000/=

Recognition Of Institutions

NACTE only conducts assessments of education obtained from institutions that meet our recognition criteria.To meet our criteria, an institution must have been formally approved by a designated competent authority within their country through a process incorporating quality assurance. The institution must also be widely accepted by other institutions and agencies inside and outside the country. NACTE does not evaluate awards offered by unrecognised institutions.

Exception :
Because of the realization that some local institutions are in the process of recognition/registration and have already graduated students, such students will have their awards evaluated after NACTE is satisfied that the institution’s programmes were viable and valid to offer training. Sometimes visitation is required to ascertain that training actually took place.

Revocation/Cancellation Of Evaluated Award :
Any award evaluation and the resulting equivalence established by the NACTE may be revoked if :-
Fast Track (decision to be communicated within 3 working days) :
** The evaluation results was granted in error due to administrative error or mistakes in the information supplied to NACTE,
** The evaluation results was granted through fraud or,
** The evaluation results were granted as a result of using altered, forged, falsified or tampered documents in any way.

All individuals, whose award evaluations have been cancelled, will be notified and should respond within 30 days from the date of such cancellation. The candidate may appeal against the decision within 90 days.
