Vehicle Licences :

The law requires your vehicle to be licensed annually. It is your duty as the vehicle’s owner, to ensure that the licence is renewed before it expires.

If the licence is not renewed you are liable to pay late licensing penalties and arrears. There is a grace period of 21 days after the expiry date of the vehicle’s licence in which to renew the licence without incurring penalties and arrears.

Instructions :
You can renew your licence at a motor vehicle registration authority.

To license your vehicle, you need to submit :
** Form ALV.
** The licence disc or the vehicle’s registration papers.
** Your ID.
** The appropriate fee.
** Any penalties and arrear licence fees.

Alternatively, you can present your licence renewal notice (form MVL2). These notices are posted monthly to all motor vehicle owners, six weeks before the licence expiry date. The renewal notice is sent only once to the address registered on eNaTIS, the electronic National Traffic Information System database. Vehicle owners can confirm their address details at a traffic department. You can renew your licence without having a renewal notice.

You can also renew your licence by post. Contact the appropriate motor vehicle registration authority for more information.

The licence disc will be posted to the address on the eNaTIS database.

If someone else renews your licence on your behalf, you need to ensure that they have :
** A letter authorising them to renew your licence.
** A certified copy of your ID and their own ID.
** The licence disc or the vehicle’s registration papers.
** The appropriate fees.

Price :
The licensing fee depends on the category, description and tare of the vehicle.

The new fees were published in the Provincial Gazette on 21 May 2014.
