Electronic Passport Application
The e-passport is the new electronic travel document with machine readable features.

Who can apply for this service :
Any citizen of Botswana who wishes to travel abroad.
What is required to get this service :
For Persons Aged 16 Years and Above :
** Original Omang and certified copy of Omang
** Citizenship certificate of parents and/or owner if parents were once foreign nationals (seek Clarification from Passport and Citizen Officers).
** Omang details for parent/s as well details of parent’s place of birth
** For lost passport please bring the police report/ affidavit before the commissioner of oath. The forms are collected by the applicant or parent if under 16 years of age.
NB : Please bring the old passport for replacement applications
For Children Under 16 :
** Original birth certificate and certified copy of birth certificate
** Parent’s original Omang
** Guardian original Omang (in case of deceased parents)
** Death certificate of deceased parent(s) in case of guardian applying for the child
** Letter from District Commissioner, Chief or Social Worker for proof of guardianship (in case of deceased parent(s)
** Please bring the old passport for replacement
** Citizenship certificate of parents and/or owner (registration) if parents were once foreign nationals (seek clarification from Passport and Citizen Officers)
NB : Please bring the child along for passport.
How much do I pay for this service :
For new applications and replacement applications, the following charges apply for people older than 16 years of age and those below 16 years of age;
** P260 normal service
** P390 express service
** P520 special service.
For lost passport applications, the following charges apply for people older than 16 years of age and those below 16 years of age :
** P1260 for lost passport
** P1390 for lost passport and express service
** P1520 for lost passport and special service
How long does it take to replace a passport :
** Normal service passport takes 5 working days to process.
** Express service passport takes 48 hours to process.
** Special service passport takes 24 hours to process.
Where can I apply for a passport :
At all Immigration office around the country, except in Francistown, Maun, Selebi Phikwe and Kasane.
How do I get access to Passport Application form :
You will have to fill in the form in office in the presence of the officer assisting you and this is done so because of security reasons. The form cannot be taken out of office.
If I am outside Botswana, how can I apply for my passport :
Contact your nearest Botswana Embassy or High Commission to assist you with your application.
Can I apply for the Electronic Emergency Travel Document (E-ETD) while waiting for my passport :
Yes, especially if there is need to travel within a very short period of time.
What do I need to get an e-ETD :
For Persons Aged 16 Years And Above :
** Original Omang and certified copy of Omang
** Citizenship certificate of parents and/or owner if parents were once foreign nationals (seek clarification from Passport and Citizen Officers) FOR CHILDREN AGED UNDER 16
** Original birth certificate and certified copy of birth certificate
** Citizenship certificate of parents and/or owner (registration) if parents were once foreign nationals (seek clarification from Passport and Citizen Officers).

P12.00

At any immigration office countrywide.
NB :
Emergency travel documents are for emergencies only and will not be issued out except in cases of emergencies such as medical reasons.
