This is a legal document issued by the Department of Road Transport and Safety in accordance with the Road Traffic Act, which permits one to drive.

Where Can I Obtain This Service :
The service is available at all DRTS offices country wide. Please refer to DRTS key Service Map for more information.
How To Obtain A Driving License :
** Complete application form for provisional learner license (DL1)
** Book and undergo Theory test, having passed Theory test undergo Eye test
** Apply for Provisional Learners’ license
** Book and undergo Yard and Road test ,
** Driving license is issued having successfully passed all tests.
How Much Do I Pay For The Service :
Theory test – P40.00
Provisional Learner’s license- P30.00
Yard and Road test- P40.00
Driving license – P70.00
Driving License Renewal:
Botswana driving license card is valid for 5 years, driving license card are renewable at DRTS offices. Driving license cards can be renewed 3 months before the date of expiry.
How Do I Obtain The Service:
Submit copy of a valid National Identity Card (Omang) or passport for expatriates
Complete DL 1 FORM and undergo Eye test. Produce the expired driving license
People aged 65 years and above should provide medical certificate (DL 31).
How Much Do I Pay For The Service:
Driving license – P70.00*
*A penalty fee of P7.00/day (excluding weekends and holidays) and not exceeding P1000.00 is charged on defaulters.
