How To Apply For Home Placement For Older Persons?

This service is intended to assist poor senior citizens that are 60 years or older with suitable living conditions.

Process :
** The applicant visits the Senior Citizens Division requesting intervention from the Social Services Representative (SSR).
** The intake process and form are then completed by SSR.
** A needs assessment and home investigation are then completed.
** The SSR then makes a recommendation based on the findings.
** The applicant is informed of the recommendation made about whether or not they qualify for the service and at which senior citizen home they will be placed.

Eligibility of Home Placement For Older Persons

** Must be a Bahamian Citizen or permanent resident that is 60 years or older.
** Persons without a fixed place of abode or who currently live alone.

The applicant is required to pay 75% of their income – National Insurance Retirement Benefit.
