Payments For CSEC Examinations & ITVETs BZNVQ’s :

The Government of Belize, through the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports (MoEYS) will pay the cost for fourth form students to sit six(6) Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) exams, developed and administered by the Caribbean Examinations Council, and for students at ITVETs to sit the appropriate number of Belize National Vocational Qualifications (BzNVQs), developed and administered by the MoEYS, starting in the 2014-15 school year. All high school and lTVET students who qualify on the basis of need will benefit from this policy initiative to promote equity.

The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports hereby provides the guidelines for the eligibility and implementation :
Students must be enrolled in high school(or a high school equivalent programme) as a fourth form student or equivalent

Students must have participated in the household survey conducted by the Ministry of Education in collaboration with the Ministry of Human Development to determine level of need.

Students must belong to a household that falls within the Single Information System of Beneficiaries (SlSB) CategoriesI-VII as determined by the household survey in “2” above and printed on the Household Certificate distributed via thechild’s school; and include English A and Mathematics among the six(6) CSEC Exams they will be sitting (this does not apply for students sitting BzNVQs exclusively).

Students whose household participated in the survey will be receiving an SISB Household Certificate, issued by the Ministry of Human Development, through their respective high school or ITVET indicating their household classification;

Students must register for the CSEC Exams and BzNVQs as usual through their respective schools;

Principals and Managers are requested to provide the completed registration information for all students to the Examination Unit or the Testing and Certification Unit of the Ministry indicated above). In addition, to the registration information, the respective serial numbers of the SISB Household Certificate for each student registering for the exams should be provided.

The Government of Belize will pay relevant examination fees for six (6) CSEC/CXC exams or the appropriate number of BzNVQs on behalf of students with SISB Household Certificates with Categories I-VII. Students from these households need not pay and principals of high schools or managers of ITVETs need not collect relevant fees from these students
