Procedure for Registration in the Registry of Nurses and Receipt of a Licensing Certificate :
A person who wishes to practice nursing in Israel must have a license from the Ministry of Health and be registered in the registry of nurses. Registration in the registry is in accordance with the Public Health Regulations.
The procedure for recognition of professional standing as a nurse is determined by the Ministry of Health, based on meeting criteria which are updated from time to time and which reflect a person’s fitness to practice the profession, including :

Eligibility to Take and Register For the Licensing Examination in Nursing :
** Graduates of Programs of Study in Nursing in Israel
** Graduates of programs of study in nursing in Israel, who have satisfied all the obligatory requirements of the program of study, are eligible to take the government licensing examination. Successful completion of this examination constitutes a necessary condition for registration in the registry of nurses in Israel.
** Eligibility to take the licensing examination is determined after completing the program of study, and its approval by the Nursing Administration.

The required documents for certification of eligibility :
** Certification of invitation to the licensing examination shall be generated by the graduate via the internet two weeks prior to the examination (this certification should be shown when entering the examination).
** Graduates of Overseas Programs of Study in Nursing

Conforming knowledge to the Israeli health system :
** Each graduate whose program is recognized for the status of registered nurse must undergo a unit of supplementary instruction for “conforming knowledge to the Israel health system”, focusing on professional topics unique to Israel.
** Eligibility to sit the licensing examination is subject to this study unit.

Eligibility to take the licensing examination in nursing :
** Fulfilling all the requirements mentioned above will render the applicant eligible to take the state licensing examination in nursing.
** Certification of eligibility to take the licensing examination will be sent to the application by post on completion of the process.

Appealing the licensing examination :
** Persons with a result of 58-59 are entitled to appeal against the results of the examination.
** Application to appeal against the examination results should be submitted in writing up till 21 days only from the publication of the result. Applications submitted after this time will not be accepted.
