What is Victoria Registry Relationship Certificate?
Relationship certificates are a celebration of a special part of your life. They’re also an important personal document that you can use as proof of your relationship for legal and other official purposes. We can issue certificates only for relationships that are registered in Victoria.

Need For Victoria Registry Relationship Certificate
1. Details of the relationship
At minimum, you’ll be asked for:
**Given name and family name of both people in the relationship
**Date that the relationship was registered.
2. Proof of your identity
You may be able to prove your identity online. If not, you can still prove your identity by mailing certified copies to us.
Acceptable documents:
One of the easiest ways to prove your identity is by presenting your driver licence (if it confirms your residential address) and your Passport.
3. Proof that you’re eligible to get the certificate
**If you’re applying for your own certificate, you only need to provide proof of your identity.
**If you’re applying for someone else’s certificate, you also need to prove that you’re authorised to do so.

Processing Time For Relationship Certificate
The Processing Time For Relationship Certificate is 35 days (5 weeks).
Allow extra time for:
1. Public holidays
2. Postage:
**6 working days for registered or standard post
**2 working day for most express post
If you order legal and commemorative certificates together, we post them separately.
The law requires a 28-day cooling off period when registering a domestic relationship. We can’t issue a certificate until 28 calendar days have passed and we have registered the relationship.

Commemorative Relationship Certificates
Commemorative relationship certificates are decorative mementos to preserve your special event. They’re not a legal document and can’t be used for official purposes. You can choose to order a commemorative certificate at the time you order your standard relationship certificate. There are two designs by local artists to choose from. Each is printed on archival quality paper and fits a standard frame size of 280mm x 355mm (11″ x 14″).
