Application For Guest Researchers :
If you are a guest researcher, you have particularly easy access to the Danish labour market.

Please note that there are special rules for researchers and for PhD students.
Conditions:
If you have a Master’s degree, you can be granted a residence and work permit if you need to conduct research as part of your further education or career development and need to do so at a Danish research institute or company which makes facilities available, but does not hire you. As you will not normally be receiving a salary from the Danish organisation, you must be able to support yourself with your own means or continue to receive pay from your research institute or employer in your country of origin while in Denmark. You must have means or income which equal the Danish level of social benefits for single non-providers over 30. You must document your ability to support yourself for the entire duration of your stay.
Researchers on short-term stays may be exempt from the regulations:
If you have been invited as a researcher, scientist or lecturer to teach or give lectures, you may do so without a residence and work permit, provided your stay does not exceed three consecutive months, calculated from the day of arrival in Denmark.
Likewise, if you are to work as a researcher or guest researcher attached to a university or company in Denmark, you may do so without a residence and work permit, provided your stay does not exceed three consecutive months, calculated from the day of arrival in Denmark.
If you are a citizen of a country with a visa requirement to enter Denmark, you must have obtained a visa valid for the entire stay before entering Denmark in accordance with the general conditions for the granting of a visa. If you are exempt from the visa requirement, you also need to observe the general visa conditions.
If your stay in Denmark is expected to exceed three months, you must have a residence and work permit covering the entire period, including the first three months. You must have obtained the permit prior to arriving in Denmark.
Duration :
If you are a guest researcher, you can be granted a residence and work permit for up to three years. Your permit cannot be extended beyond three years.
Your residence permit will expire 14 days after your job contract ends, but for a maximum of three years.
Please note that it is a condition that your passport is valid for at least three months beyond the duration of your residence permit.
If you submit your application from your country of origin or another country where you have legally resided for at least the past three months, you can be granted a residence permit valid for one month prior to the date your job begins. This is to enable you to get settled in Denmark. It is a condition that you declare that you can support yourself and any accompanying family members for one month prior to beginning at your new job. If you do not declare this, your residence permit will be valid for 14 days prior to the date your job begins. If you submit your application in Denmark, your residence permit will be valid from the date your job begins.
If you find a new job:
If you find a new job while you are working, you must apply for a new residence and work permit. However, you may begin your new job before you have received your new permit, provided that you submit your application no later than the day you start your new job.

Please note that guest researchers cannot apply under the Fast-track scheme.
Family members:
If you have been granted a residence and work permit as a guest researcher, you can bring certain family members.
Please note that you must document that you can support your family members.
