How To Apply For Residence Status in Armenia?

To be granted temporary (except for the cases of getting temporary residence status (prolongation of the status) for business), permanent, and/or special residence status (prolongation of the status), foreign nationals submit the documents required by law to the Migration Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia:

Documents Required For Residence Status

List of required documents

For temporary residence status, a person shall submit:
** application;
** application-questionnaire;
** 3 color photos, 35×45 mm in size;
** passport and its copy, as well as notary certified Armenian translation of the passport;
** reference on health condition of the applicant;
** a confirmation of legality of a person’s residence in the Republic of Armenia, such as an entry visa, residence card, special passport issued by the Republic of Armenia, indication on entering the territory of the Republic of Armenia in the identification document of the person made by customs control body;
** in the case of an underaged person, the parents’ passport, or the passport of the legal representative, as well as a document proving family ties;
** in the case of an authorized person, the latter’s passport;
** the receipt confirming the payment of state duty (no state duty applies for persons under the age of 18);
** documents justifying the need to be granted residence status (prolonging the status) in the Republic of Armenia;

a. in the case of having an Armenian descent, a document confirming the Armenian descent;
b. in the case of business activities, documents confirming the business activities;
c. in the case of a close family member of a national of the Republic of Armenia, or a foreign national holding special, permanent, or temporary residence status in the Republic of Armenia, a document certifying family connection, the passport of the national of the Republic of Armenia, special passport, permanent residence card, or temporary residence card;
d. in the case of education, a document confirming the enrollment in an educational program.

Note:
All documents executed in a foreign language, shall be submitted with duly executed and certified Armenian translation in conformity with law. To exclude the circumstance of being a national of the Republic of Armenia in the scope of the RA Law on Citizenship, persons of Armenian descent shall also submit copies of birth certificates, parents’ passports, as well as parents’ marriage certificate.

List of required documents:
** application;
** application-questionnaire;
** a confirmation of legality of a person’s residence in the Republic of Armenia, such as an entry visa, residence card, special passport issued by the Republic of Armenia, indication on entering the territory of the Republic of Armenia in the identification document of the person made by customs control body;

Any of the below listed documents confirming the Armenian descent of the person:
a. a document of baptism issued by religious institutions and validated by the embassy or a consular service, with an indication of Armenian descent of the baptized person or of a parent;
b. a document on having Armenian descent issued by an authorized body of a foreign state, with apostille and consular validation;
c. other document confirming the Armenian descent validated by the embassy or consular service;
d. birth certificate or identification document of a parent (grandfather, grandmother, full sister or full brother /full siblings/), with indication of Armenian descent.

Note:
The birth certificate of half-brother or half-sister /half-siblings/ or any other document confirming Armenian descent may serve as a document confirming Armenian descent in the case the Armenian descent of the sibling is conditioned by having same parent; Besides the documents mentioned in the paragraph d. of this point, the applicant is required to submit a document confirming the family connection of the person, issued by authorized state body (documents confirming Armenian descent also include passports and birth certificates with indication of Armenian ethnicity);

** passport or travel document and its notary certified Armenian translation;
** 6 color photos, 35×45 mm in size;
** the receipt confirming the payment of state duty.

2. For permanent residence status, a person shall submit:
** application;
** application-questionnaire;
** 3 color photos, 35×45 mm in size;
** passport, its copy, and notary certified Armenian translation of the passport;
** reference on health condition of the applicant;
** a confirmation of legality of a person’s residence in the Republic of Armenia, such as an entry visa, residence card, special passport issued by the Republic of Armenia, indication on entering the territory of the Republic of Armenia in the identification document of the person made by customs control body;
** in the case of an underaged person, parent’s or legal representative’s passport and a document confirming family connection;
** in the case of an authorized person, the power of attorney, and the authorized person’s passport;
** the receipt confirming the payment of state duty (no state duty applies for persons under the age of 18);
** documents justifying the need to be granted residence status (prolonging the status) in the Republic of Armenia;

a. in the case of having an Armenian descent, a document confirming the Armenian descent;
b. in the case of business activities, documents confirming the business activities;
c. in the case of a close family member of a national of the Republic of Armenia, or a foreign national holding special residence status in the Republic of Armenia, a document certifying family connection, the passport of the national of the Republic of Armenia, a document certifying at least 3-year residence in the territory of the Republic of Armenia.
