Things to know:
You can make a secure payment on 1905 with a debit or credit card or you can now pay by logging into MyMeteor
You can set up an Irish Direct Debit
Things to do:
Your first bill may be higher as you’re paying a little more than one month because of how the billing dates fall
Check out our short guide to help you understand your first bill
How can I pay my bill?:
** Direct Debit from your bank account – You can set-up, change or cancel your Direct Debit in MyMeteor
** On 1905 by debit or credit card
** MyMeteor – pay your bill by credit or debit card. Once you make a payment in MyMeteor you’ll receive a confirmation notice of your payment but the actual amount paid won’t be displayed on screen for up to 24 hours
** In a Post office
** By cash, debit or credit card in a Meteor store
** Online banking – please use your mobile or customer number as the ‘transaction code’
** Billpay.ie – you can make a once of payment, or set up an account through billpay.ie
** Through a PostPoint outlet. You can find your nearest PostPoint
** Cheque – can be sent directly to Meteor and will take 7-10 days to be processed
When is my payment due?:
All payments have a ‘pay by’ date of approximately 15 days after your bill has issued. You can see the exact date on your bill. If you are paying by direct debit, we will automatically apply for payment on this date. It can then take up to five working days for your direct debit to clear with your bank.
I paid my bill but my balance hasn’t updated in MyMeteor?:
The “Payment due” amount which shows in MyMeteor is the amount of your last bill. It doesn’t take into account/deduct any payments you’ve made (by any method – Online, Post Office, Online Banking etc.) since your last bill issued. To check your up to date payment balance call 1905 and select option 1, then option 2.
While the payment due option doesn’t update Online to show a deduction in the amount you paid we do receive your payment immediately.
SEPA:
SEPA – or The Single Euro Payments Area is the new way companies across the EU must manage Direct Debit payments. This is EU regulation, full details of which can be accessed here.
How will it affect me?:
If you already have a Direct Debit set-up, you won’t need to change anything.
In future Meteor Direct Debits will initially show up as ‘SEPA DD’. As soon as your bank refreshes their systems a few hours later, Meteor will then appear at the front of the transaction.
Customers setting up a Direct Debit for the first time must provide their BIC and IBAN instead of bank account number and sort code.
Will I be charged for a returned Direct Debit payment?:
Yes, you will be charged if a Direct Debit was returned by your bank. The charge relates to our bank charges and administration costs. You will have to contact your bank directly if you have a query on an unpaid Direct Debit.
