Tourist Guide Licence :
TO APPLY :
The applicant must be an individual who meets all the following requirements:
Qualification : Has attended courses or training courses and passed competency tests conducted by the Commissioner of Tourism or any organisation authorised in writing by the Commissioner of Tourism to conduct the course, training and competency tests for tourist guides.
A processing fee of RM10.00 is to be enclosed with the application.
Age : Has attained the age of eighteen (18) on the date of application.
Health : Physically and mentally fit and free from any infectious disease.
Conduct : Has no criminal record and is able and competent as a tourist guide.
WHEN TO APPLY :
Not later than three (3) months after passing the Basic Tourist Guide Course.
APPLICATION FORM :
Application must be made by submitting one (1) copy of Form 1 (Regulation 3).
The completed form must be submitted directly to the relevant Regional Licensing Office.

DURATION OF LICENCE :
One (1) year from date of approval of licence.
DOCUMENTS TO BE ATTACHED WITH APPLICATION FORM :
Picture :
One (1) latest passport-size colour photograph.
Copy of Identity Card :
One (1) copy of the identity card of applicant.
Receipt of State Tourist Guide Association Membership :
One (1) receipt of the relevant State Tourist Guide Association membership.
Medical Certificate :
One (1) copy of detailed medical certificate from any government hospital/licensed medical practitioner.
Documents Required When Submitting Application :
Basic Tourist Guide Course Certificate :
** One (1) copy of letter of notification from Ministry of Tourism that the applicant has attended and passed the Basic Tourist Guide Course OR
** One (1) copy of the Basic Tourist Guide Course Certificate.
Malaysian Skill Certificate :
One (1) copy of the Malaysian Skill Certificate.
Academic Certificates :
One (1) copy each of academic certificates that have been certified (for example: degree, diploma, STPM, SPM or the equivalent).
Mesra Malaysia Certificate :
One (1) copy of Mesra Malaysia Certificate (mandatory).
Letter of Offer of Employment :
One (1) copy of the letter of offer of employment from tour company (if any).
ADDITIONAL DOCUMENTS FOR TOURIST GUIDE LICENCE APPLICANTS :
Local Nature Course Certificate :
** One (1) copy of the letter of notification stating that the applicant has attended and passed the Local Nature Course OR
** One (1) copy of the Local Nature Course Certificate.
Eco-Host Certificate :
One (1) copy of the Eco-Host Course Certificate (if any).
Academic/Skill Qualification Certificate :
One (1) copy each of academic/skill qualification certificates that are certified true (if any).
Note: Two (2) copies each of the documents need to be submitted if the applications are sent to the Ministry of Tourism’s State Offices.
LICENSING FEE (ANUAL) :
A licensing fee of RM50.00.
MODE OF PAYMENT :
** All payments are to be made in bank draft/postal order/money order/cashier’s order in the name of the Commissioner of Tourism of the Ministry of Tourism of Malaysia.
** The name of the company and the ministry’s file reference number (if any) must be clearly written behind the bank draft/postal order/money order.
SUBMISSION OF APPLICATION FORMS :
** Licensing Division, Ministry of Tourism Malaysia – Applications from the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur & Putrajaya.
** Applications from the states may be submitted to their respective State Tourism Offices.
ATTENTION :
** Applications which do not meet the basic requirements will not be considered.
** The Ministry of Tourism of Malaysia will not be responsible for the expenses and correspondence of applicants.
** Stern action shall be taken against applicants who provide false statements.
