What is Electrical Installation Inspection?

An electrical inspection is required for all newly constructed properties or major building renovations.

You must apply for a new electrical inspection in the following cases:
** A newly constructed building, apartment, or industrial space.
** Disconnection by the utility for a period exceeding 6 months.
** Changing the connected voltage of a building from single phase to three phase or vice versa.
** Upgrading or modifying a building with an installed 2-wire service to a 3-wire configuration. When modifying a building with an installed 2-wire service, it is required that the connected voltage be upgraded to a 3-wire configuration new application

To apply for a new electrical inspection, download the form or click below. Forms can also be collected from the GEED’s front in Verona House, Bank Hall, St. Michael. Please note that the application can only be facilitated by a licensed electrician.

Cost of Electrical Installation Inspection

** Domestic/Resident inspection is $3.00 (basic fee), plus 0.25c per point
** Commercial inspection is $25.00 (basic fee), plus 0.50c per point

Payment:
Inspection fees are paid at the Cashier’s window, Ministry of Transport and Works, Pine East-West Boulevard, The Pine, St. Michael. Completed forms should be submitted at the same time payment is made.

Can anyone collect the certificate besides the electrician?
No, only the licensed electrician who applied can collect the certificate.
