How To Register As A Professional Surveyor?

The Registry General maintains the Register of Surveyors and publishes a list of the surveyors who are registered in the Royal Gazette in January of each year.

Steps:
1. To become a registered surveyor, a person must complete a Professional Surveyors Application for Registration Form and submit it to the Registry General along with:

2. Certified copies (by a Notary Public) of any certificates of professional qualifications. Alternatively, original certificates and copies may be brought to the Registry General for the copies to be certified.

3. Copies of any other documents relating to the applicant’s professional qualifications, experience and character.

4. The $300 application fee and a fee for certification of original documents in the amount of $75 must be paid. Cheques should be made payable to the Accountant General.

Applications are forwarded to the Professional Surveyors Registration Council for consideration, after which the Registry General advises applicants of the Council’s decision.

Note:
This Form consists of three Parts. Parts A and B must be completed by all applicants. Part C refers to the professional requirements for registration and since these may be satisfied in any of four ways specified in paragraphs (a) to (d) of section 5 of the Act, applicants shall complete either Part C (1), C (2) or C (3), as appropriate.

Part C (1): For applicants who are Fellow or Members of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors of the United Kingdom.

Part C (2): For applicants who have a Degree or Diploma in surveying And not less than two years experience.

Legislation of Professional Surveyor Registration

The registration of engineers is governed by the Professional Surveyors Registration Act 1997 and the Professional Surveyors Registration Regulations 2001. Copies can be obtained from Bermuda Laws Online.

About Registry General :
The Registry General is responsible for the legal recording of documents ranging from births to patents and trade marks. Specifically, any of the following must be registered with the Registry General:

** births, domestic partnerships, marriages, including civil and maritime marriages, and deaths;
** designs, patents, and trademarks;
** chattel mortgages and deed polls;
** trade unions, charitable organisations, printed publications, and friendly societies;
** professionals and professional organisations, including architects, marriage and domestic partnership officers, professional engineers, and professional surveyors; and
** registering.bm domain names

The Registry General also grants intellectual property rights, such as trade and service marks, patents, and designs.

Requesting a Refund:
To expedite a refund, a refund form must be completed, including vendor number. However, if you do not have a vendor number the new/change of address form must be completed, together with the refund form.
