Applying For Child Passport:

You can apply for or renew your child’s passport if they live in Jersey, or were born here and now live in the UK.

A child must have their own passport to travel.
Cost of a child’s passport

A child passport costs £46 for standard service. There is a fast-track / urgent service at an extra cost.

How to apply:
You can collect a passport application form from Maritime House or any parish hall or post office.

You must complete the application form and submit it to our office with:
** two recent identical photographs
** a countersignatory (a witness’ signature)
** your child’s passport – if renewing
** the fee
** supporting documents – see ‘supporting documents’ section

Photograph requirements:
All passport application forms explain what is acceptable in a passport photo.

We do not have an in-house photography facility. All camera shops and photographers in Jersey are aware of our requirements.

If your child has links with the UK or other British Islands:
If your child was born, adopted or registered in the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man and neither parent was born in the UK (England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland), you must complete section 4 of the form.

If your child has a link with the UK through a grandparent who was born, adopted, naturalised or registered in the UK, you must provide as much information as possible. You only need to provide details of one grandparent, not all.

Signing the application form:
A parent or someone with parental responsibility must sign the form.

If your child is 12 or older, they must also sign the application form.

Separated or divorced parents:
If the parents are separated or divorced, but were married at the time of the child’s birth, or married at any time after the child’s birth, both parents must sign, unless there is a court order stating that one parent has care and control. If there is such a court order, the parent with care and control must sign and should send the court order to us with the application.

A custody or maintenance order does not automatically take away the other parent’s parental responsibility.

Parents who have never married:
If the parents have never married, the mother must sign. The father can only sign if he has a parental responsibility order or agreement and must send this with the application.

Someone with parental responsibility:
If another adult is acting as parent, they must send proof of their parental responsibility to us.

Countersigning the form:
You will need a countersignatory (someone to witness your child’s application).

Supporting documents you must provide:
You may need to provide different documents depending on if you’re applying for your child’s first passport, or renewing their current one.

Renewing a passport:

You only need to provide supporting documents when renewing a passport if your child’s details have changed.

You must submit your child’s birth certificate if the details in their current passport are different to those on the application form.

If your child’s name has changed, you must provide their new birth certificate, adoption certificate and / or original deed poll.

First passport applications:
If you are applying for your child’s first British passport, you must provide certain documents. These depend on the nationality or status of the child’s parents.

If your child lives outside Jersey:
If your child was not born in Jersey and is living in the UK, you must apply through the UK offices.

If your child is living abroad, you must apply through the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) Embassy, Consulate or High Commission of the country in which they are resident.
