Gameplay:
You will be required to select a team’s path to the World Cup.
The game is divided into two segments:
** Tournament Bracket
** Second Chance
Tournament Bracket:
You will be required to set the two given group tables, as per the order in which you think the teams will finish in their respective groups.
You can do so by either using the (up-down) arrows or by the drag & drop method. Once you have saved your tables for the group stages, the QF tables are automatically populated. You are then required to select which teams you think will go through from every KO game and finally select the team you think will end up as World Cup winners.
You can make changes to your selections by clicking on the ‘x’ button which comes up on a mouse-hover? of the team you wish to change.
You can also use the stats bars on the tables to get an idea of the selections made by other users in the game.
The Tournament Bracket locks at the schedule start of the first match of the World Cup. You are required to make all his selections before the Bracket locks. No changes can be made post locking of the Tournament Bracket.
Points Scoring (Tournament Bracket):
You will be awarded 10 points for every correct pick made in the correct spot, 5 points for every correct pick made but in the wrong spot and 0 points for every incorrect pick for all matches across the Group stages.
The points awarded are doubled for the KO game selections i.e. you will be awarded 20 points for every correct pick made in the correct spot, 10 points for every correct pick made but in the wrong spot and 0 points for every incorrect pick for all matches across the Knock-out stages.
For Example: Consider you pick Australia to top group A and thus qualify for QF1. Points scoring for the same can occur for the below 3 mentioned scenarios:
Scenario 1: Australia actually tops group A and hence qualifies for the QF via entry in the QF1 table. (You are awarded full 10 pts for this as along with Australia topping the group as selected, Australia also qualified for the KO stages)
Scenario 2: Australia finishes 2nd, 3rd or 4th in the group and hence qualifies for the QF but via the QF2, QF3 or QF4 tables and not the QF1 table as selected. (You are awarded 5 pts for this as Australia despite not topping the group still qualified for the KO stages as selected).
Scenario 3: Australia finishes 5th, 6th or 7th in the group and hence does not even qualify for the QF’s. (You are awarded 0 pts as Australia did not finish in the position selected by you and also did not qualify for the KO stages)
Also, for a KO game, consider the following scenarios:
You picked Australia to top the group and then go on till the semi-finals. In such a scenario, if Australia actually topped their group and qualified for the SF table via the QF1 table, the You will be awarded 20 pts.
If Australia actually came 2nd, 3rd or 4th in their group and thus qualified for the SF table via the QF1, QF2 or QF3 tables, then you will be awarded 10 pts.
If Australia actually came 5th, 6th or 7th in their group and hence did not qualify for the SF table then you will be awarded 0 pts.
In case of a tie, the user with the most no. of correct predictions made in the correct spot will be declared the winner. In case even this is tied, Timestamp will be used to determine the winner. Timestamp of your last saved bracket is the tie-breaker, where the earlier Timestamp is the winner.
2nd Chance:
The 2nd Chance bracket only opens on the 16th of March (once the group stages have ended) and locks on the 18th of March (the day of the first KO game).
The QF picks are automatically populated based on the final group standings.
You are reqd. to select teams you think will win in each of the KO games and also the final winner.
You can make changes to his selections by clicking on the ‘x’ button which comes up on a mouse-hover of the team you wish to change.
Points Scoring (2Nd Chance):
You will be awarded 20 points for every correct pick and 0 points for every incorrect pick for all matches.
