Citizen Registration :

Application for Registration as a Citizen of Trinidad and Tobago Under Section 7(1) of the Immigration Act of Trinidad and Tobago

This service is applicable only to a national of a commonwealth country who wishes to become a citizen of Trinidad and Tobago.

Persons making an application using this service are encouraged to view the checklist of documents required by viewing or downloading the checklist to ensure that they meet the requirements stated therein.

Document Checklist:
1. Three (3) Form 7 forms as contained in the First Schedule of the Citizenship Regulations made pursuant to the Citizenship Act, Chap. 1:50 obtainable at the Ministry of National Security Port-of-Spain. These forms must be completed by the applicant and signed in the presence of a Commissioner of Af?davits.
2. A non-refundable fee of $100.00 payable at the Ministry of National Security. The total fee is $940.00. The balance shall be payable when the application is approved.

3. Birth Certificate. If correct name, etc., does not appear on the Birth Certificate then an Affidavit sworn to by a person who knows of birth, namely parents, elder siblings or older relatives must be submitted—Original and Photocopy

4. In the case of a married woman, the Marriage Certificate should be submitted—If divorced, the Decree Absolute—Original and Photocopy.
5. Travel documents, i.e., passports, travel permits, etc., including the documents with which applicant entered the country—Original and Photocopy.

6. Evidence of Permanent Residence in Trinidad and Tobago, i.e., Permanent Residence Certificate or Certificate of Immigration Status—Original and Photocopy
7. Proof of satisfactory fulfilment of incOme tax obligations whether employed or not—Tax Certificate “B” or “C ”

8. National Insurance CardlNo.-—Original and Photocopy
9. Trinidad and Tobago Identification Card/acknowledgement slip for same—Original and Photocopy

10. Four (4) identical passports—size photographs. Each of the four (4) referees. is required. to endorse the reverse side of one photograph with the words “I certify that this IS a true likeness of (Mr. Mrs or Miss). . .” and add his/her signature and occupation

Note:
Persons suitable for acceptance as referees are Members of Parliament, Mayors, Chairmen, Borough and Regional Corporations, Justices of the Peace, Ministers of Religion, Medical, or Legal Practitionersi

Established Civil Servants, Range 30 and above, Bank Managers, Registered Teachers, Police Officers—Corporal an above, or any person of similar standing. Applicants must be known by referees for at least five (5) years.
