Victoria Apply For Student ID Card

Once you’ve enrolled, apply for your Student ID before you start at Victoria.

You must have a current student ID card to:
** enter streamed classes
** make faculty office visits to request documentation such as transcripts, fees, assessments and to add or drop course(s)
** enter examinations
** collect assignments
** borrow library books
** access student services and support
** enrol with our IT services


** use the printers and photocopiers
** access after-hours computer labs
** access some halls of residence
** receive discounts (for the cable car, some movie theatres and restaurants).

Your first card is free, but there is a fee for replacing lost or damaged cards.

New students:
Getting your student ID card:
If your fees have been paid in full (or your Student Loan has been confirmed by StudyLink). You can pick up your card from Kelburn campus.

You can collect your card:
** between 11 February and 5 March—9am–4pm, Monday to Friday from Room SUB 216, Student Union building, Kelburn campus
** from 9 March—8.30am–5pm, Monday to Friday at the Enrolment counter, on Level 1 of the Hunter building.

If you have not supplied a photo, email your photo with your full name, date of birth and Student ID number to enrolment-enquiries@vuw.ac.nz. Your ID card will then be pre-printed.

Photos should be passport-sized and the picture front facing.

New and returning students:
Access is granted 10 days before the start date of your course if you have:
** been confirmed into your programme of study and courses for the current trimester
** paid your fees or have arranged payment with the Fees team.

Access will continue until 10 days after the end of your course date.

Access is revoked when you:
** receive a fees hold on your account
** withdraw from a course
** have not paid your fees
** are not currently enrolled in any courses.

Te Koki New Zealand School of Music ID cards:
All new students enrolling in music qualifications will be issued with a Victoria University student ID card— see above for pick-up information.

If you are a returning student and need a replacement card (at a cost of $21), pay at the Enrolment Counter, Level 1, Hunter Building, Kelburn campus. Advise the Enrolment staff that you are an NZSM student, as your card will be different if you were enrolled in a Music qualification in 2014 or earlier.

Distance students:
If you are a distance student, email your photo to enrolment-enquiries@vuw.ac.nz and your ID card will be posted to you. Make sure to give your postal address.

Length of validity:
Bachelors and PhD Student ID cards will be valid for three years, postgraduate teaching and postgraduate research for two years and certificates or diplomas for one year.
