Submission:
A passport application can be submitted at working days without prior appointment between 08:30 – 11:30. A passport application has to be submitted in person. This also applies to minors.
Fees:
The applicable fee has to be paid in cash in the local currency, GHC, according to the Embassy’s exchange rate. The most up to date tariffs in GHC will be published at the publication board of the consular section. For an overview of the current consular tariffs, click here.
Passport application requirements:
In the column on the right you can download a passport application form and the specific requirements for the submission of a passport application. Of all original documents, copies (of all pages) have to be submitted as well for administrative purposes. Incomplete files will not be processed. In that case you will be informed which additional documents you have to submit before we can process your application.
There are strict passport picture criteria. The Embassy has good experience with Flash Photo, Danquah Circle, Osu. This photo shop has received proper instructions from the Embassy which requirements must be met. Please inform Flash Photo in advance that you wish to use the pictures for a Dutch passport application.
Collection:
A passport also has to be collected in person, by the passport holder. Please discuss with the consular section if you are unable to collect it yourself; in some cases you will be allowed to authorise someone to collect it on your behalf.
Collection times are on working days from 14:00 – 15:00.

Applying for a passport or identity document outside the Netherlands:
If you would like to apply for a passport or identity document outside the Netherlands, you can make an appointment with one of the Netherlands foreign missions that is authorised to accept such applications.
You will need to take a number of documents to your appointment. Before making an appointment, please inquire about what these documents are. You also need to bring a completed application form, which you can fill in on screen and print out. If you are having problems with the digital version of the form, you can also print out the pdf and fill it in by hand.
For more information about applying for a passport or identity document outside the Netherlands, go to www.government.nl.
To cover costs, new fees are introduced. The fee you pay is for processing your application so it is non-refundable, even if you turn out not to be eligible for a Dutch passport.
How non-residents of the Netherlands can apply for travel documents:
If you live outside the Netherlands, you can also apply for a travel document or identity card during a visit to the Netherlands in a number of municipalities (most are near the border): The Hague, Enschede, Maastricht, Echt-Susteren, Oldambt, Bergen op Zoom, Montferland and Bergeijk.
To do so, you need to make an appointment on the municipality’s website. There you can also find information about what documents you will have to take with you. You can find a list of these websites on www.rijksoverheid.nl (in Dutch).
You can also apply for a travel or identity document at the desk of the municipality of Haarlemmermeer at Schiphol airport (by appointment only). This desk is located in departure hall 1 and is open seven days a week, from 7:00 to 22:00. You can make an appointment and get more information at Paspoortbalie.nl (in Dutch).
The fees for passports and identity cards are lower in the border municipalities than at Dutch missions abroad. When your travel document is ready, you can pick it up at the municipality’s customer service desk.
Be on time!:
Be sure to apply for your passport or identity card on time. For all these border municipalities, you should allow for several weeks of processing time. Be aware that you may have to wait longer during peak application periods such as before the summer holidays and the periods before Easter and Christmas.
