Birth Registration :

Birth is a legal fact that shall be registered. A person submits a birth registration certificate to various state or private entities, organizations, etcetera.

You can apply to any branch of the Public Service Development Agency or Public Service Hall to register birth.

To Register Child Officially Married Parents Must Submit:
** Marriage registration;
** Identity documents of parents (if one parent applies for child registration the identity document of another parent is not required);
** Medical document certifying birth of child or a resolution establishing a legal fact of birth.

To Register Child Parents, Who Are Not Married Officially, Must Submit:
** Identity documents of both parents;
** Medical document certifying birth of child or a resolution establishing a legal fact of birth
** If one or both parents, who are not married officially, are minors, birth certificate of minor mother or/and father of a child and a written consent of a parent or other legal representative on registering a person as father of the child.

To Register Child, Single Mother Must Submit:
** Identity document;
** Medical document certifying the birth of child or a resolution establishing a legal fact of birth.

Terms And Fees Of Service :
Birth registration is issued on the following business day of submitting the documents required by the law for registering birth.
A birth certificate is issued free of charge.

Registration Of Established Paternity :
** The registration of established paternity means acknowledging a concrete person as a child’s father, thereby giving rise to a child’s rights and responsibilities towards the father.
** A child, whose descent is established either by the consent of both parents or a court decision, enjoys similar rights towards parents and relatives as a child of a married couple.
** To register established paternity, please, apply to any branch of the Public Service Development Agency or Public Service Hall.

Paternity Is Registered When :
a) A child, whose father is to be registered, is a citizen of Georgia, has a residence permit in Georgia, is born in Georgia or his/her birth is registered in Georgia;
b) A parent of minor is a citizen of Georgia or a person with a permanent residence permit in Georgia;
c) Decision on establishing paternity has been taken by a Georgian court;
d) Decision on establishing paternity has been taken by a court of another country and is acknowledged in accordance with a rule determined by Georgian legislation.

Establishment Of Paternity On The Basis Of Joint Application Of Parents :
Required Documents :
A joint written application of parents;
Identity documents of both parents;
Birth certificate of a child;
If mother or/and father of a child are minors, their birth certificates and a consent of both parents or other legal representative on registering a person as a child’s father.

Establishment Of Paternity On The Basis Of Application Of Father :
Required Documents :
** A written application of father;
** Identity document of father;
** Birth certificate of a child;
One of the following documents :
death certificate of mother; court decision on acknowledging mother as being missing; court decision on acknowledging mother as being incapable; court decision on depriving mother of parental rights;
** If father is minor, his birth certificate and consent of parent or other legal representative on registering a person as a child’s father

Terms And Fees Of Service :
** Certificate of established paternity is issued free of charge within one business day of submitting an application.
