National Concessionary Travel Pass :
The Concessionary Bus Travel Act states that everyone of state pensionable age and over in England can get free off-peak travel on all local buses anywhere in England.

*From 6 April 2010 the eligibility age for the National Concessionary Travel Pass (NCTP) changed to mirror the state pension age. This means the earliest date on which you can get your Pass will depend on when you were born and, if you were born on or after 6 April 1950, this date will be later than your 60th birthday. For men the eligible age is the pensionable age of a woman born on the same day. Who qualifies and how do I apply?:
If you are an eligible person aged over 60 and a resident of Greater Manchester you can apply for a NCTP, which will entitle you to travel for free on local buses anywhere in England between 9.30am and 11pm Monday to Friday, and all day at weekends and on public holidays.
To apply for a NCTP or a replacement, get an application form from a Transport for Greater Manchester Travelshop. The passes cannot be issued in person and you can either apply by post (and post all the relevant documents) or you can take the completed application form and documents into a Travelshop for checking and then post the application form.
You will need to allow 10 working days for processing and the required documents for both options are:
** one passport-sized, colour photograph;
** proof of your age. This must be either your birth certificate, medical card, passport or driving licence;
** proof of where you live. This must be a utility bill or DWP letter dated in the last six months or a local council tax bill dated in the last twelve months.
If you are disabled, you may be entitled to free travel on buses, trains and Metrolink trams, or to Travel Vouchers which provide cheaper taxi travel, no matter how old you are. For more information, please phone our customer relations team on 0161 244 1000 and ask for a leaflet.

How much will I have to pay to travel on buses in Greater Manchester?:
The National Scheme allows you to travel for free on local buses anywhere in England between 9.30am and 11pm Monday to Friday, and all day at weekends and on public holidays.
In addition the TfGM scheme allows you to travel for free throughout Greater Manchester and to the following towns outside Greater Manchester between 11.00pm and midnight Monday to Friday.
The towns are: Hadfield, Glossop, Hayfield, Tideswell, Buxton, Macclesfield, Knutsford, Warrington, Prescot, Ormskirk, Leyland, Blackburn, Accrington, Rawtenstall, Bacup, Portsmouth (West Yorkshire), Hebden Bridge, Halifax and Huddersfield.
At all other times, you pay the full adult fare.
On which buses can I use my pass?:
You can use your pass on all local buses in England, no matter what colour or size the bus is, or which company runs it. You may be able to use your pass for local journeys on some long-distance services, but you should check with the bus company first.
You cannot use your pass for long-distance bus journeys, excursions (holiday trips) or tours, or special bus services which charge premium fares.
How much will I have to pay to travel on Metrolink trams in Greater Manchester?:
If you are a resident of Greater Manchester and your pass is issued by TfGM, you can travel for free on Metrolink trams between 9.30am and midnight Monday to Friday, and all day at weekends and on public holidays. At all other times you pay the full adult fare.
If you have an over-60s travel pass issued by TfGM and are travelling after 9.30am Monday to Friday, or at any time at the weekend or a bank holiday, you must touch in at a smart reader using your pass when you start your journey and touch out at a smart reader when you complete it.
If you are travelling outside the time of your concessionary entitlement, you must buy a paper ticket. You do not need to touch in or touch out if you have bought a paper ticket.
How much will I have to pay to travel on trains in Greater Manchester?:
If you have a pass issued by Transport for Greater Manchester, you can use it to travel free in standard class on trains within the Greater Manchester rail tickets boundary at these times:
** Between 9.30am and midnight Monday to Friday.
** At any time on Saturday, Sunday and public holidays.
Please note if you travel at other times you will pay the full adult fare. You cannot use your pass on trains outside Greater Manchester.
Replacement passes:
If you have lost your National Concessionary Travel Pass, let us know by calling our customer support team on 0161 244 1000. We’re open 7am-8pm Monday to Friday and 8am-8pm Saturday and Sunday. A charge may be made for replacing lost or damaged passes and this can be paid by debit card over the telephone.
Travelshop information:
Please note Piccadilly Online is located next door to Piccadilly Travelshop. Passes are not issued from Piccadilly Online, however, completed application forms are accepted here. The pass will then be issued via post. (Opening hours 9am to 5pm Mondays to Saturday)
Ring and Ride :

In areas where there are very limited bus services, we support Local Link services which are door-to-door public transport services. You can use your national travel pass to travel at a reduced fare.
