Aeronautical information is provided in the Aeronautical Information Publication (AIP) Gambia and its updates/ amendments. AIP Gambia is the basic aeronautical information document which contains permanent information essential to air navigation within the Banjul control zone. It is made up of three parts, namely General (GEN), En-route (ENR) and Aerodromes (AD).
AIP Gambia is updated by a regular amendment service of reprinted pages issued once every two months. AIP Supplements (AIP SUP) publishes temporary changes of long duration (three months and longer) and information of short duration which contains extensive text and /or graphics, supplementing the permanent information contained in AIP Gambia.
Aeronautical Information Circular (AIC) contains explanatory or advisory information concerning technical, legislative or administrative matters and on the long-term forecast of major change in legislation, regulations, procedures or facilities liable to affect flight safety.
NOTAM List is a plain language presentation of all current NOTAMs listed in the NOTAM checklist issued monthly and transmitted via the Aeronautical Fixed Services (AFS). It also contains the checklist of current AIP SUPs and reference numbers of the latest Gambia AIP Amendments, AIP SUP, and AIC issued.

Pre-Application Phase :
A. As far in advance as possible of an anticipated start of operations, a prospective operator should contact the GCAA Office and inform them of its intent to apply for an AMO. The prospective operator will be invited to meet briefly with CAA personnel. During this initial meeting, only basic information and general certification requirements will be discussed.
If the prospective operator intends to proceed with certification, GCAA AMO Form 001, Prospective Operators Pre-assessment Statement (POPS) will be furnished. A sample of this form with instructions for completing it is in appendix 1. The POPS should be completed, signed by the prospective operator, and returned to the GCAA Office.
B. CAA personnel will review the POPS. If the information is incomplete or erroneous, the POPS will be returned to the prospective operator with the reasons for its return noted in section 2.
If the information is complete and acceptable, the GCAA will determine which certification team will be assigned to the certification project and schedule a pre-application meeting with the prospective operator and the selected CAA certification team members.
C. The GCAA will designate one certification team member as the Project Manager (PM).
D. The purpose of the pre-application meeting is to confirm the information on the POPS and to provide critical certification information to the applicant. It is recommended that the operator’s key management and staff attend these pre-application meetings and be prepared to discuss in general terms the plans and specific aspects of the proposed operation.
Many problems can be avoided by discussing all aspects of the proposed operation and the specific requirements, which must be met to be certificated as an Approved Maintenance Organisation.
