HUS Scholarships :
Singapore Police Force (Overseas) Scholarship:
The SPF Overseas Scholarship is a prestigious scholarship awarded by the Public Service Commission.
Related / Similar Service : ros.mha.gov.sg
It is awarded to promising students who have shown outstanding academic performance and leadership qualities, and are keen to serve in the Singapore Police Force.
Eligibility:
** Singapore Citizens or Permanent Residents with the intention of taking up Citizenship
** Strong Leadership qualities and with a passion in Policing Work
** Good co-curricular activities (CCA) record
** GCE ‘A’ levels (with minimum 11 academic units), International Baccalaureate (IB), Polytechnic Diploma (with Merit) or equivalent
** Candidates should excel in Officer Cadet School (OCS)
Value of Awards:
** Tuition and other approved fees
** Monthly Overseas Maintenance Allowance
** Pre-studies Allowance (eg. warm clothing, settling-in allowances)
** Return economy class airfare to attend annual vacation attachment programme
** Sponsorship for exchange programmes and Masters degree (if requirements are met)
** Monthly salary for the duration of their studies
Countries and Courses of Study:
Most countries and disciplines (except Medicine, Dentistry and Architecture)
*Applicants intending to pursue a degree in Law will not be called to the Bar while serving in the SPF
Condition of Award:
Scholars would be bonded for 6 years (English speaking countries) or 5 years (non-English speaking countries) starting from the day they assume duty after completing their course of study.
Career Development:
Senior Police Officers would be rotated for the Initial, Command and Staff postings in the first 6 years of their career.
Singapore Merit Scholarship (SMS):
The Scholarship is awarded to promising students to pursue undergraduate studies in overseas universities. Upon graduation, they will pursue a career as Senior Officers in the Uniformed Services – Singapore Police Force, Singapore Civil Defence Force, Singapore Prison Service or Central Narcotics Bureau.
Eligibility:
** Singapore Citizens or Permanent Residents with the intention of taking up Citizenship
** Excellent academic results and strong leadership qualities
** Good co-curricular activities (CCA) record
** GCE ‘A’ levels (with at least 11 academic units), International Baccalaureate (IB), Polytechnic Diploma (with Merit) or equivalent
** Keen interest in a career with the Home Team
** Candidates must qualify and excel in Officer Cadet School (OCS)
