Issue Driver’s Learning Permit :

Enables customers to apply for issuing a driving learning permit. Individual customers (nationals and residents) who are above the legal age are eligible to apply for this service.

Required Documents For This Service:
For nationals:
** National ID copy + passport copy.
** Optical test certificate.
** No objection letter from the custodian (if the customer is below 21 years old).
** Original passports for nationals and residents who hold other emirates visa.
** A personal photo.

For residents:
** Letter from the sponsor.
** Passport copy with visa page.
** Optical test certificate. (For residents with visa issued from other emirates) additional documents are required:
** A certificate from the traffic department in emirate in which the visa is issued, to prove that the customer has no file in that emirate.
** A proof of residency or work in Dubai.
** A copy of the company’s branch trade license.
** A personal photo.

Service fees:
Issuing a driving learning permit for categories (LMV, Motorcycle & Light equipment) = AED 100. Issuing a driving learning permit for categories (heavy vehicle – heavy bus – heavy mechanical equipment) = AED 200. AED 200 Opening new traffic file. AED 50 Handbook Manual. AED 200 Theory Test fees. AED 20 for E-Test Appointment fees. AED 10 Knowledge fees. ”

Service Tips:
** Heavy vehicle driving license: for heavy and light vehicles driving. Minimum age: 20 years.
** Light bus driving license: for light buses driving. Minimum age: 21 years.
** Heavy bus driving license: for all heavy and light buses driving, and light vehicles. Minimum age: 21 years. • A motorcycle driving license: for all motorcycle types. Minimum age: 17 years.
** Disabled persons driving license: for driving vehicles that do not exceed 250 kg of weight, and especially manufactured for use by those who have physical disability and used only by them. Minimum age: 17 years. • Light vehicle driving license: for driving a vehicle with a weight that does not exceed 2.5 tons, with a maximum 14 passengers including driver, for passengers transport vehicles, with a maximum vehicle weight of 2 tons, and for vehicle transporting vehicles. Minimum age: 18 years.
** Tractor or light mechanical device driving license: for tractors or light mechanical devices, with a maximum overall weight of 7.5 tons. Minimum age: 21 years.
** Tractor or heavy and light mechanical device driving license: for tractors or heavy and light mechanical devices. Minimum age: 21 years.
** The holder of heavy vehicle driving license (cat. 4) is allowed to drive a light vehicle (cat. 3), but not allowed to add a light vehicle to his license (in case the customer wishes to add cit. to the cit. driving license, he should open a testing file at a driving institute. ”

Terms and Conditions:
Learning permit is valid for 6 months from the date of issuing the permit. In case of not preceding your application during six months from the date of opening your traffic file, then your application will be cancelled. Personal attendance. The applicant must be medically fit. The applicant must exceed the legal age of 17 years to apply for a motorcycles license, 17 years and 6 months age to apply for light vehicle license. The applicant must be at least 18 years to obtain the driving License. 20 years for Heavy Vehicles. 21 years for Buses and Mechanical equipment. The optical test must be conducted and approved by DHA Centers.

In case the visa is issued from other emirates the following are required:
a) Copy of the company trade license – branch of Dubai. b) Letter stating no current processing transaction/driving license from the emirate where visa is issued from. c) Letter from the company branch in Dubai states that the applicant works for the company branch in Dubai, and a copy of the mother company trade license. In case of the personal sponsorship, the applicant must bring copy of the official tenancy contract, or DEWA bill and Clearance letter from the place of visa states that there is no current file in the same emirate. NOC letter from the guardian in case the applicant is a national and under 21 years old. For Driving License, applicants must pass optical test based on for the required category. For buses and equipment categories optical test result must be 6/6 for both eyes. For applicants under 21 years old, license would be issued for one year and renewed yearly up to the age 21 and after that license would be issued for 10 years. For heavy vehicles and equipment categories the applicant age must be above 21. Licensing Agency gives the special need customers a certificate to visit Rashid Hospital for medical test. In case the customer has previous light automatic driving license and wants to apply for light manual driving license category; the driving lessons will be reduced from 40 to 20 lessons. The applicant must be medically fit, once there is a medical issue, the applicant is required to bring an approved medical report, also there are some conditions to apply for optical statue, that would be determined by the examiner. ”
