Please note:
** Additional documents may be requested by the Health Regulation Department to justify the application for licensure.
** Attestation of qualifications and experience by UAE embassy and Ministry of Foreign Affairs is NOT required.

** Primary Source Verification (PSV) will be carried out. Applicants who knowingly submit falsified documents will be liable for prosecution as per UAE Federal Law. This would also include an immediate termination of the licensure process and/or revocation of licensure if already issued by DHA.

** Evidence of malpractice insurance is required for all approved applications before issuing the license.

Scope of practice:
The scope of practice defines the functions, responsibilities and decision making capacity of the licensed healthcare professionals based on their specific qualifications and competencies.

Renewal of License

All nurses/midwives are required to renew their professional license every year. The required documents are:
** Valid malpractice insurance
** Evidence of completing CPD/CME points

To renew the professional license, the applicant must demonstrate compliance to the requirements of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) -formerly known as Continuous Medical Education (CME):
** 20 credit points of accredited Continuing Professional Development (CPD/CME) every year. CPD/CME points shall be accredited by one of the accrediting bodies recognized by DHA
** The CPD/CME certificates can be uploaded through the “Sheryan System”.

Please note:
Applicants who knowingly submit falsified documents will be liable for prosecution as per UAE Federal Law. This would also include an immediate termination of the professional license issued by the DHA

License Cancellation

The healthcare professional license may be cancelled either by:
** The facility or the medical director through the online cancellation transaction on “Sheryan System”.
** The professional himself/herself through the online cancellation transaction on “Sheryan System” provided a “No Objection Letter” from the current employer attached with the application.

Please note:
** If the DHA professional license was cancelled, the license can be reactivated within one year from cancellation date, after that the license will be considered null and void and the applicant will be required to attend and pass an assessment or interview to practice the profession.
** Cancellation of the License is free of charge.

Assessment

Healthcare professionals applying for licensure are required to pass DHA assessment in order to acquire professional license and practice in the Emirate of Dubai. The DHA assessment can be either computer based or oral depending on the health professional’s category.

1. Computer Based Assessment:
The DHA conduct computer based assessments in collaboration with Prometric testing and assessment company.

To book the DHA computer based assessment, the applicant needs to submit an online licensure application through “Sheryan” e-licensing system to the Health Regulation Department (HRD). After completing the credentialing process by the HRD team, the applicant will be issued a DHA assessment eligibility number which is required to complete the online application, book test date and select location of the test center.

Please note:
The computer based assessment fee will be paid electronically either by credit card or prepaid card. Only MasterCard and Visa Card is accepted. Prepaid credit cards can be easily obtained from various places like banks and major supermarkets.
