Foreigners National Identity Card (NIC):
The new National Identity Card for all Argentine citizens and those foreign residents, whose migration status will enable them, has a plastic format with different safety features to ensure its legitimacy.

Using modern worldwide technology on documentary safety, its quality and reliability was optimized. These innovations were introduced by Order 1501/2009. and Resolutions RNP (National Registry of Persons) No. 585/2012 and No. 797/2012.
A new NIC produces by the National State with human resources, technology and equipment 100% own.
In all cases, the new NIC is issued in a Single Format: NI Card.
It can be gotten by means of two methods:
Single Box: this option allows the foreigner to apply for NIC in conjunction with the proceeding of residence at Headquarters authorized for that purpose by the National Direction of Migration and receive it at home. It is the right for those foreigners who have no permanent or temporary residence in force in the country.
Traditional: for foreigners whose migration status will enable them, may apply for it at the offices of the Civil Registries of the Country or in the Fast Document Centers available for this purpose by the National Direction of Migration. In both cases it is received at home. It is the right for those foreigners who already have permanent or temporary residence in force in the country.
All the offices of the Civil Registries of the interior of the Country, are authorized to take proceedings of documentation generating with that request the issuance of the new NIC.

The granting of the appointment is free and does not require agents or intermediaries.
B) Traditional:

For the following procedures you should make an appointment online through www.migraciones.gov.ar:
** NIC Original, For First Time

** 5/8 Years Olf Update
** New Copy Of NIC For Theft, Loss Or Disuse
** New Copy Of NIC For Extension Or Change Of Catergory
** New Copy Of NIC For Change Of Address
** Correction Of The NIC
** First NIC With Identity Card Issued By The Federal Police
** First NIC With Consular Envelope
The granting of the appointment is free and does not require agents or intermediaries. The photographs for all the proceedings will be taken without additional cost at the Headquater of the National Direction of Migration.
Important:
According to Resolution No. 1260/2012 RENAPER (National Registry of Persons), from 06/01/2012 there will be no registration of change of address, change of status or extension of stay in manual form on the NI book format. For these procedures, you should make an appointment to carry out a new copy of the NIC with the updated data.
